The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China presented initiatives to "expand high-standard opening up" and "safeguard the multilateral trading system", drawing international attention. As Xu Hua reports, the economic directives were discussed at an international forum in Shenzhen.

A wider opening-up, sharing opportunities, achieving common development with the world. That's the clear message from China's latest high-level political meeting, laying the groundwork for the 15th Five-Year Plan. And it's a vision earning praise from global experts at a major forum in Shenzhen commemorating the United Nations' 80th anniversary.

WOLFGANG ALSCHNER, Professor of Hyman Soloway Chair, Business and Trade Law, University of Ottawa "I think opening up and working with the world is a very important signal, but it has to be followed up by action. And I think the challenge is going to be to find ways of how we can cooperate in the future."

How can nations increase co-operation in the future? China's answer lies in creating more space for two-way investment. As Peru's former foreign minister highlighted, global challenges demand cooperation under the rule of law.

CESAR LANDA, Former Foreign Minister of Peru "I think the concept of the win-win cooperation is very important for countries of the global South, because we have horizontal relationships. For example, President Xi went to Lima, Peru when I leave to open the port Chancay in a corporation where the both part win. There is no hierarchical, there are horizontal relationships."

XU HUA, CGTN Reporter "China has pledged a wider opening up of its economy, and promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. How can these changes translate into greater resilience and stability for global industrial chains?"

CASSIUS GUIMARAES CHAI, Law Professor, Federal University of Maranhao "Brazil view the high quality Belt and Road Initiative as a connective architecture. China and its partners included Brazil, we can reduce together systematic risk while strengthening global resilience. Resilience grows from reliability. Trust built across ports, banks, regulators, and ensured the continuity of cooperation even under global stress."

LIU HUAWEN, Deputy Director, Institute of International Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences "China is playing its very important rules for the stability and prosperity of the international world. So we stick to our peaceful development. We uphold the multi land through system that international trade system like mechanism of WTO and generally, we support the international system with the UN at its core."

China has signaled it will pursue development through greater openness—and share the opportunities that follow. Xu Hua, CGTN, Shenzhen.
