On 9-11February 2012, Professor Feng Jun, Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute, visited the Law Faculty of Helsinki University and attended the seminar on “Nordic and Chinese Experiences of Rule of Law, Welfare Society and Social Governance”, organized by the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki. At the seminar, Professor Feng Jun delivered a speech on “Innovation of Social Governance and the Rule of Law in China”, which introduced and analyzed the background, main content and significance of innovation in social governance and the relationship between social governance and the rule of law in China. Professor Xie Zengyi, associate search fellow at the CASS Law Institute, also attended the seminar and presented a paper on “New Development of Welfare and Protection of Workers in China: Achievements and Challenges”. The seminar was participated by near 40 experts and scholars from Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway and from many Chinese research institutes and universities, including Peking University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, Jilin University and China University of Political Science and Law.
During their visit to the Law Faculty of Helsinki University, Professor Feng Jun and Professor Xie Zengyi met with Dr. Ritta Mustonen, Vice-Chair of the Finnish Academy of Science, Professor Kimmo Nuotio, Dean of the Law Faculty of University of Helsinki, Professor Liisa Laakso, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science of Helsinki University, Professor Matti Niemivuo, Dean of the Law School of University of Lapland, and Dr. Anja Lahtinen, Director of the Confucius Institute of Helsinki University and carried out wide-ranging and deep-going exchanges on how to further strengthen the cooperation between the CASS Law Institute and research institutions in Finland and other Nordic countries.
