
In the afternoon of December 1, 2014, Professor Mo Jihong, Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute, met with Mr. David Gordon Evans, Deputy Director of the Embassy of New Zealand in Beijing. The main purpose of Mr. Evans’ visit is to discuss with Professor Mo the significance of the Decision on Major Issues Concerning Comprehensively Deepening Reforms, adopted at the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, to the construction of the rule of law in China. At the request of the Mr. Evans, Professor Mo gave him an overall assessment of the Decision and an introduction to the general objectives, basic principles, and concrete tasks of the strategy of comprehensively promoting the rule of in China, and answered his questions on the relationship between the rule of law and the reform, the significance of the implementation of the Constitution to ruling the country by law, and the objective and concrete measures of judicial reform. Mr. Evans thanked Professor Mo for his explanation of the spirit and content of the Decision and expressed hope to continue the cooperation and exchange between the Embassy and the CASS Law Institute in the field of the rule of law.
