The Seminar on the Reform of the Death Penalty System and State Administration, organized by the CASS Law Institute as part of the CASS Innovation Project “Criminal Law Safeguard for Social Stability”, was held in Beijing on October 22, 2014. The seminar was participated by over 80 scholars and experts from various state organs, university and research institutions in China, including the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, CASS, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, and Beijing Normal University. At the seminar, the participants carried out in-depth discussions on various issues around the main theme of “Reform of the Death Penalty System and State Administration”, such as the general trend towards the abolition of the death penalty in the world, the reduction of capital crimes, the judicial control of the death penalty and constitutional and other perspectives on the death penalty
