The Seminar on the Implementation of the New Criminal Procedure Law Held at CASS Law Institute
The Seminar on the Implementation of the New Criminal Procedure Law, organized by the “Research Team on the Investigation on the Implementation of the New Criminal Procedure Law”, was held at CASS Law Institute on April 26, 2014. The event was participated by over 60 experts and scholars from the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the Political and Judiciary Commission under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Justice, All-China Lawyers’ Association, CASS Law Institute, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Chinese People’s Public Security University, Beijing Normal University, and China Youth University for Political Science. Professor Ji Xiangde chaired the opening ceremony and briefed the participants on the background and implementation of the project “Empirical Research on the Implementation of the New Criminal Procedure Law”. On behalf of the Investigation Team, Associate Professor Qi Jianjian reported to the Seminar on the result of the investigation under the project. The leaders of the Public Security Bureau, the People’s Procuratorate, the People’s Court and the Judicial Administration Bureau of Juye County, Shandong Province reported to the participants of the Seminar on the implementation of the new Criminal Procedure Law by their respective organs in the past one year. Afterwards, the participants carried out discussions on the main systems and procedures of the Criminal Procedure Law, including pre-trial procedure, coercive measures, defense system, evidence system, trial procedure, enforcement procedure, special procedure, and legal supervision.
