Professors Liu Hainian, Mo Jihong and Liu Huawen Attend the Symposium on Human Rights Publicity Work

On October 17, 2016, the Symposium on Human Rights Publicity Work, organized by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, was held in Beijing. Three researchers of the CASS Law Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law attended the symposium. They were Professor Liu Hainian, an honorary CASS member and honorary director of CASS Center for Human Rights Studies, Professor Mo Jihong, Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute, and Professor Liu Huawen, Assistant Director of CASS Institute of International Law and Executive Director of CASS Center for Human Rights Studies. Mr. Liu Qibao, Director of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, gave an important speech at the Symposium. In the speech, he stressed that all Party members must carry out in-depth study of a series of speeches given by Party Secretary-General Xi Jinping on the development of human rights cause in China, improve their human rights publicity work, and show to the outside work the progresses made by China in the development of human rights undertakings, especially the great achievements made by China in safeguarding people’s right to existence and right to development, in continuously exploring human rights theories and the road to the development of human rights, in improving the democratic system and safeguarding people’s right to know, right of participation, right of expression, and right of supervision, and in conscientiously implementing its international human rights obligations and promoting the international protection of human rights. China must actively carry out human rights dialogue and exchange with foreign countries, strengthen the cooperation with the UN, other international organizations, foreign political parties, governments, conferences, NGOs, think tanks, and medias in the field of human rights, create human rights dialogue and cooperation platforms in various forms and at various levels, so as to enhance the international influence of the Chinese practice and ideas of human rights.
