
On October 12-14, 2015, a three-member delegation of CASS Institute of International Law led by Professor Chen Zexian, the director of the Institute, visited the Law School of University of Palermo in Italy and attended the seminar on “Protection of Human Rights: the Chinese and Italian Perspectives”. The other two members of the delegation were Professor Liu Huawen and Professor Dai Ruijun.
At the seminar, Professor Chen Zexian gave a keynote speech on “Judicial Reform and Human Protection in China”, in which he explained the new developments in the construction of the rule of law in China from the perspectives of judicial reform and human rights protection and the reform of the litigation system and the protection of human rights; Professor Liu Huawen gave a detailed introduction to the mode and trend of development of human rights cause, especially the realization of economic, social and cultural rights, in China from the perspectives of the rule of law, development, and safeguarding of human rights; in her speech, Professor Dai Ruijun discussed the role played by international human rights law in promoting the women’s rights and interests in China.
After the introductions made by Chinese gusts, the Italian scholars introduced the Chinese guests to the new opportunities and challenges faced by Italy in the fields of the rule of law, human rights, development and international cooperation against the background of economic globalization.
