
On October 16, 2015, a Polish delegation, consisting of Professor Tomasz Giaro, Deputy Dean of Law School of Warsaw University, Professor Longchamps de Berier from Jagiellonian University in Cracow, and Associate Professor Piotr Grzebyk, Director of Polish Law Program of Warsaw University, visited CASS Law Institute and held a meeting with Professor Mo Jihong, Deputy Director of the Institute, in which the host and the guests exchanged opinions on the future cooperation between CASS Law Institute and the relevant polish universities.
After the meeting, a small-scale “Sino-Polish Seminar on Comparative Law” was held at CASS Law Institute. The seminar was presided over by Professor Xie Zengyi, Head of Research Administration and Foreign Affairs Department of CASS Law Institute. Professor Tomasz Giaro and Professor Mo Jihong each delivered a opening speech at the beginning of the seminar. Professor Xuhui, Deputy Head of the Department of Procedure Law of CASS Law Institute and Professor Xie Hongfei, Head of the Department of Civil Law of CASS Law Institute, each gave a keynote speech at the seminar. Afterwards, the hosts and gusts carried out discussions on many issues of common interests, including new developments in the construction of the rule of law in China, the case law system in civil law countries, the precedent system in China, the methodology of private law and the common grounds of Chinese and Polish laws, and problems in the compilation of the Chinese civil code.
