On May 6-7, 2015, the Nordic Network Meeting on Gender and Law—the Seminar “Ability of Law to Create Gender Equality” was held in Umea University Sweden. The seminar was participated by over 50 scholars and experts from the five Nordic countries and as well as from China, UK, Canada, and the Netherlands. During the seminar, participants carried out discussions on various relating to gender and law, including feminist judicial decisions, gender analysis of tax law, family and social welfare, obstacles to gender equality, and gender issues faced by Nordic countries. Two researchers of CASS Law Institute, Ms. Xue Ninglan and Ms. Dai Ruijun, attended the seminar and each gave a keynote speech on issues relating to the Draft Law against Domestic Violence in China. The tiles of their speech were “Anti-Domestic Violence Law in China: Progress and Challenges” and “The Ability of Law to Create Gender Equality: Taking the Progress of Anti-Domestic Violence Law in China as an Example”.
