At the seminar, Professor Mo Jihong gave a keynote lecture on “the Trend of Development of the Rule of Law in China after the Fourth Plenary Session of the Eighteenth CPC Central Committee”; Professor Zhou Hanhua gave a lecture on “Constructing a Government under the Rule of Law: Practice, Problems and Prospects”; Professor Xu Hui gave a lecture on “the Current Situation and the Reform of the System of Openness of Judicial Affairs”; and Professor Xie Hongfei gave a lecture on “Several Issues relating to the Adoption of the Civil Code in China”. The lectures given by Chinese scholars were spoken highly of by their Canadian counterparts, who carried out exchanges with the Chinese scholars on such issues as the approaches to the realization of the rule of law, the construction of law-based government, concrete measures for the realization of judicial transparency, and the legislative mode of the Civil Code in China.
After the lectures, the Chinese delegation visited the Law School of Montreal University and carried out discussion with Professor Benoît Moore, Dean of the Law School, on further deepening the exchange and cooperation between the two institutions.
