The Twelfth Sino-German Dialogue on Human Rights was held in Beijing on July 13-14. Mr. Huang Mengfu, Vice-Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director-General of China Foundation for Human Rights Development, Ms. Cui Yuying, Vice Director of the Information Office of the State Council, and Ms. Herta Däubler-Gmelin, Human Rights Spokesperson of the Presidium of German SPD, attended and delivered speeches at the opening ceremony of the Dialogue.
Over 40 Chinese and German experts participated in the Dialogue and carried out discussions on several topics, including protection by international law of the sovereignty of foreign states and the rights of foreign citizens, opposing war and upholding human rights by drawing on the lessons of the Second World War, and combining international human rights standards with the concrete domestic conditions. Professor Chen Zexian, Director of CASS Institute of International Law, and Professor Liu Huawen, Assistant Director of CASS Institute of International Law, attended and gave speeches at the Dialogue
