Symposium on Professor Ma Xiangchong’s Environmental Law Research Held in Beijing
In the morning of January 5, 2014, the Symposium on Professor Ma Xiangchong’s Environmental Law Research, organized in celebration of the Professor Ma Xiangchong’s 80th birthday, was held at the Main Conference Hall of the CASS Law Institute. The event was chaired by Mr. Chang Jiwen, a part-time professor at CASS Law Institute and a former post-doctoral researcher under the supervision by Professor Ma Xiangchong, and participated by over 40 scholars and experts from various universities, research institutions, and government departments. Professor Chen Su, Professor Li Lin, Professor Mo Jihong, Professor Li Buyun, Professor Han Yanlong, and Professor Wang Xiaoye each gave a speech at the symposium. They recalled their many years’ friendship with Professor Ma, reviewed the outstanding contributions Professor Ma has made to the establishment and development of the environmental and resource law science in China, highly praised his rigorous scholarship and high moral character, and wished him good health and a long life. Mr. Sun Youhai, Director of China Institute of Applied Jurisprudence of the Supreme People’s Court, Mr. Wang Xili, an inspector the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and many other government officials and scholars from various universities and research institutions also reviewed Professor Ma’s academic experience and achievements in their speech and congratulated him on his 80th birthday. In his speech, Professor Ma Xiangchong, summarized his own experiences in the research on environmental law and expressed his sincerely thanks to his colleagues and friends for their support to his research work and for their long-term friendship.
