On December 5, 2013, two officials from the Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, Mr. Du Weirong and Ms. Ma Xiaohong, who visited CASS Law Institute in April this year, re-visited the Institute and held a meeting with researchers of the Department of Survey and Studies of National Situation of Rule of Law.
The U.S. guests first thanked the CASS Law Institute for arranging the meeting and then asked the experts of the Institute for their interpretations of the latest progresses in the construction of the rule of law made by the Third Plenary Session of the Eighteenth Central Committee of the CPC.
After fully understanding the purpose of the visit of the U.S. diplomats, Professor Tian He, the head of the Department, briefed them on the characteristics and the results of the recent work carried out by the Chinese government in the fields of construction of the rule of law and fight against corruption, given them a systematic interpretation of the new institutional mechanism against corruption as well as a brief introduction to the latest trend of development in the fields of judicial reform and judicial transparency. Professor Lu Yanbing brief the guests on the measures taken made by central and local governments in recent years in reforming the system of administrative examination and approval and in constructing of the supporting systems.
The American guests thanked their hosts for the authoritative and systematic explanations and hoped to have more opportunities in the future to consult the experts of the CASS Law Institutes on various issues of relating to the construction of the rule of law in China.
Also attending the meeting were Ms. Wang Xiaomei and Mr. Li Yanjie, two young researchers of the Department of Survey and Studies of National Situation of Rule of Law.
