CASS Forum and the Tenth International Law Forum “International Law in an Era of Globalization: New Structure, New Order and New Development” Held in Beijing

The CASS Forum and Tenth International Law Forum “International Law in an Era of Globalization: New Structure, New Order and New Development” was held in Beijing on November 9-10, 2013. The Forum was participated by over 70 experts and scholars from China, U.S., Canada, Germany, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, South Korea and Mexico.

The opening ceremony of the Forum was chaired by Professor Chen Su, Secretary-General of the Joint Party Committee of the CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law. Professor Chen Zexian, Director of the CASS Institute of International Law, and Professor Huang Jin, President of the China University, each delivered a speech at the ceremony.

During the two-day Forum, over 40 Chinese and foreign experts and scholars gave presentations around the main theme of the Forum. They explored the following issues from the multiple perspectives of public international law, private international law, international economic law and international human rights law: the relationship between international law and domestic law, interpretation and application of treaties, enforcement of international rulings, sovereign immunity, international liabilities, protection of human rights, the legal status of oceans and polar regions, management of international environment, the reform of international organizations, the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, rules on the use of force, financial regulation, investment regulation, trade remedies, public health and intellectual property right, the system of seizure of ships, international shipping system, applicable laws on international civil and commercial adjudication, and public order reservation.
