Vice Chairperson of the United States-China Business Council Visits CASS Law Institute

In the morning of June 26, 2013, Ms. Piper Stover, Vice Chairperson of the United States-China Business Council (USCBC) and Mr. John Lenhart, Deputy Director of USCBC Beijing Office visited CASS Law Institute and held a discussion with scholars of the Department of Survey and Studies of National Situation of Rule of Law of the Institute.

Professor Tian He, Head of the Department of Survey and Studies of National Situation of Rule of Law, presided over the discussion. She welcomed the guests from the USCBC and briefly introduced to them the status and functions of the CASS Law Institute, and the achievements made by her Department in the survey and study of national situation of rule of law and in the publication of the Blue Book on the Rule of Law. Professor Li Yanbin explained the progresses made by China in promoting the transparency of the government.

Ms. Stover introduced and explained USCBC’s position and organizational structure as well as the investigations so far carried out and results achieved by it. Mr. Lenhart indicated that USCBC and its members have been following the progress of the survey and studies of national situation of rule of law and the publication of the Blue Book on the Rule of Law for a long period of time and hope to strengthen the cooperation with the CASS Law Institute in this field. Both the hosts and guests agreed that they have many common understandings in this research field and they explored the possibilities of future cooperation between USCBC and CASS Law Institute. Dr. Wang Xiaomei and Dr. Li Yanjie, two researchers from the Department of Survey and Studies of National Situation of Rule of Law, also participated in the discussion.
