Chinese-Japanese Seminar on Comparative Labor Law and Social Security Law and the Fifth China Social Law Forum Held in Beijing

The Chinese-Japanese Seminar on Comparative Labor Law and Social Security Law and the Fifth China Social Law Forum, co-sponsored by the CASS Law Institute and the Institute of Comparative Law of Waseda University, was held in the conference room of CASS Law Institute on March 22-23, 2013. The seminar and the forum was participated by about 80 social law scholars and experts from such government departments as the National People’s Congress, All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Office of Legislative Affairs of the State Council and research institutions and law schools throughout China.

The opening ceremony was presided by Professor Xue Ninglan, Head of the Department of Social Law of CASS Law Institute. The speakers at the ceremony included Mr. Zhang Mingqi, Vice Chairman of All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Professor Yoshiki Kurumisawa, Director of the Institute of Comparative Law of Waseda University, Professor Chen Su, Deputy Director of CASS Law Institute, and Mr. Chen Jialin, Deputy Director of the Office of Social Law, Law Commission of the National People’s Congress.

During the two-day seminar, the participants carried out discussions on such topics as “labor protection and social security in non-typical employment”, “legal issues relating to old-age insurance and medical insurance”, “obligations and responsibilities of the government with respect to social security”, etc.
