Professor Li Qingming: The Lawsuits against China Filed by American Citizens over the COVID-19 Epidemic Lack Legal Basis and Therefore Will not Succeed

 

 

Recently the Judicial Committee of the US Senate held a hearing on a bill which would allow US citizens to file lawsuits against China for the damages they have suffered as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic. On August 7, 2020, Professor Li Qingming, an associate research fellow at CASS Institute of International Law, pointed out in an interview by the Xinhua News Agency that such lawsuits have no legal basis and therefore will not succeed.
