Professor Chen Zexian and Professor Liu Renwen Attend the Expert Panel on Draft Amendment (XI) to the Chinese Criminal Law

The Expert Panel on Draft Amendment (XI) of the Chinese Criminal Law, jointly sponsored by the Research Department of China Law Society and China Criminal Law Society, was held on the morning of July 21, 2020. The panel was attended by twelve prominent criminal law experts and scholars from various universities and research institutions, including Professor Chen Zexian, an executive vice chairman of China Criminal Law Society and a research fellow at CASS Law Institute, and Professor Liu Renwen, a member of the Executive Council of China Criminal Law Society and the head of the Criminal Law Department of CASS Law Institute. At the expert panel, jointly presided over by Professor Chen Zexian and Mr. Zhang Tao, Deputy Director of the Research Department of China Law Society, Mr. Xu Yong’an, Head of the Criminal Law Office of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, introduced the legislative background and the main considerations of Draft Amendment (XI) of the Criminal Law. The participants carefully reviewed the draft amendment, put forward suggestions on the improvement of the draft and, carried out in-depth discussions on the relevant issues.
