The Annual Conference of banking Law Research Committee of China Law Society, sponsored by the Research Committee and organized by Fudan University, was held in Shanghai on November 9, 2019. The conference was attended by over 300 representatives from various state and judicial organs, universities, research institutions, the banking industry, and related enterprises, including China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, CASS, Development Research Center of the State Council, Peking University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Wuhan University, Shanghai University, Shanhai University of Finance and Economic, China Development Bank, China Construction Bank, China Minsheng Banking Corp. Ltd., and China Credit Trust and Tencent Group.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Wang Weiguo, the Chairman of the Research Committee and a professor at the School of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law of China University of Political Science and Law, delivered a special report on the work carried out by the Research Committee in the year 2019.
After the opening ceremony, a ceremony was held for the awarding of prizes for excellent papers from the annual conference in 2018. A paper co-authored by Professor Xi Yuemin, Head of the Economic Law Department of CASS Law Institute, entitled “Investment Rules on Customer Reserve and Its Regulation and Adjustment, won the first prize. At the conference, the participations gave keynote speeches and carried out discussions on such issues as bank compliance management in the new situation, the revision of the Law on Commercial Banks, construction of international financial center and the development of financial law system, strengthen the financial law and prevention of financial risks, financial crimes and legal issues relating to financial technologies. Professor Xi Yuemin gave a speech on “the protection of personal data in banking business” at the conference.
