The Second Innovation Forum of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law in 2020 Successfully Held

   

 

The Second Innovation Forum of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law was held at the conference hall of the two institutes on the morning of September 15, 2020. At the forum, Professor Zhang Sheng, the chief researcher of the Innovation Project “Inheriting and Drawing on the Essence of Traditional Chinese Legal Culture“, and Professor Hu Shuijun, a researcher of the innovation project, each gave a lecture on “Ethics and Legal System in the Authority Order of Ancient China” and “Jurisprudence and Yangming School”, respectively. The lectures were presided over by Professor Wang Shuaiyi, an associate research fellow at the Department of Legal History of CASS Law Institute, and attended by over 40 researchers and graduate students from the two institutes. Professor Ma Xiaohong from Renmin University of China and Professor Gao Hancheng, a research fellow at the Department of Legal History of CASS Law Institute, each made comments on the lectures. After the lecture, Professor Liu Hongyan, Professor Xi Yumin and Assistant Professor Lin Xiaoxiao from CASS Law Institute and Professor Qu Xiangfei, Professor Liu Xiaomei and Assistant Professor Sun Nanxiang from CASS Institute of International Law shared their opinions on some issues relating to the themes of the two lectures, including the linkage between traditional Confucianism and western human rights theories and the participation by traditional culture in modern rule of law. At the end of the forum, Professor Chen Guoping, Secretary of the Joint Party Committee of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, gave a summarization of the forum.
