The Seminar on (Draft) Data Security Law and the 19th Roundtable on Cyber and Information Law was successfully heldonline on July 4, 2020. The roundtable and seminar were jointly sponsored by the Internet and Information Law Department of CASS Law Institute, the Internet and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society and the Editorial Board of Journal of Cyber and Information Law, and attended by experts and scholars from various universities, research institutions and Internet companies, including CASS Law Institute, the Internet and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society, Peking University, Tencent, and sina.com,The seminar was divided into three units. In the first unit, a speech was given by Professor Zhou Hanhua, deputy director of CASS Law Institute, the person in charge of Internet and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society and the Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cyber and Information Law, on behalf of the sponsors of the roundtable.In the second and the third units, presentations were given by representatives of the Internet industry and representatives of experts, in which they discussed such issues as data security administrative regulation and law enforcement systems, the data security obligations of data processors, the data classification system, protection of important data, cross-border data regulation, classified data protection, data sovereignty, data circulation, the significance of the Data Security Law, the data industry promotion system, the data security management system, and the system of access to data market, and put forward related suggestions on the improvement of the draft Data Security Law. At the end of the roundtable, Professor Zhai Guoqiang, Head of the Internet and Information Law Department of CASS Law Institute, made a summarization of the issues discussed at the roundtable and the seminar.
