The Academic Seminar “Seventy Years of Construction of the Rule of Law in New China: Retrospect and Prospect” Held in Beijing

 

 

The Academic Seminar “Seventy Years of Construction of the Rule of Law in New China: Retrospect and Prospect”, sponsored by CASS Law Institute and organized by the Department of the Rule of Law Strategy of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, was held in Beijing on November 16, 2019. The seminar was attended by over 40 experts and scholars from the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the Party School of CPC Central Committee, CASS, China Law Society, National Judges College, Renmin University of China, University of International Relations, and Tianjin University.

 At the opening ceremony, presided over by Professor Li Zhong, Head of the Department of the Rule of Law Strategy of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, opening remarks were made by Mr. Hu Yunteng, a former member of the Trial Committee of the Supreme People’s Court, Mr. Wang Weiguo, Associate Director of the Rule of Law Research Institute of China Law Society, and Professor Xiong Qiuhong, a research fellow at CASS Law Institute.

The seminar was divided into four sessions in which the participants gave presentations and carried out discussions on various issues around the following four topics: 70 years of develop of constitutional law; 70 years of develop of administrative law; 70 years of develop of criminal law; and 70 years of develop of intra-Party regulations.

At the closing ceremony, presided over by Professor Liu Xiaomei, a research fellow at CASS Institute of International Law, summarizations of the seminar were made by Pressor Jiang Huiling, Vice President of National Judges College, and Professor Mo Jihong, Director of CASS Institute of International Law.

The seminar was the fourth major academic activity organized by the Department of the Rule of Law Strategy of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law since its establishment.
