The Sino-Germany Roundtable on Arbitration Law: International Business Environment and Resolution of International Disputes Held in Beijing

 

The Sino-Germany Roundtable on Arbitration Law: International Business Environment and Resolution of International Disputes was held in Beijing on October 19, 2019. The roundtable, organized as a part of a series of activities held in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the establishment of CASS Institute of International Law, was jointly sponsored by CASS Institute of International Law, Knorad Adenuer Foundation (Germany), and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and attended by experts and scholars from CASS, Knorad Adenuer Foundation (Germany), Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Supreme People’s Court of China, the High Court of the State of Hessen, Germany, the German Ministry of Economy and Energy, China Society of Arbitration Law, Tsinghua University, China University of Political Science and Law, the University of International Business and Economics, Xi’an Jiangtong University, China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Beijing Arbitration Commission, the German Institution of Arbitration, and Sina Corporation. At the opening ceremony, presided over by Professor Huang Jin, Deputy Head of the International Economic Law Department of CASS Institute of International Law, opening remarks were given by Professor Mo Jihong, Director of CASS Law Institute, Mr. Michael Winzer, Chief Representative of the Beijing Office of Knorad Adenuer Foundation (Germany), and Mr. Lu Hongwei, Deputy Director of the Department of European & Asian Affairs of Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. At the roundtable, which was divided into four units, the participants gave speeches and carried out discussions on various issues around such topics as the legislative safeguards of international business environment, international commercial courts and international arbitration, mechanism for the appeal against international investment arbitration awards, and mechanism for the enforcement of international investment arbitration awards.
