The Forum on the Legal Protection of Data in Cyberspace of the 6th World Internet Conference Held in Wuzhen

 

 

The Forum of Legal Protection of Data in Cyberspace of the 6th World Internet Conference, sponsored by CASS, organized by CASS Law Institute, and co-organized by China Cyber and Information Law Society, and China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, was successfully held at Jingxing Conference Hall, Wuzhen International Internet Exhibition & Convention Center in Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province at 13:30-16:30 on October 20, 2019. The forum was divided into three parts: opening ceremony, keynote speeches, and roundtable. At the opening ceremony, presided over by Professor Chen Su, opening remarks were given by Mr. Liu Liehong, Vice Minister of the Cyberspace Administration of China, Professor Gao Peiyong, Vice, President of CASS, Mr. Zhao Dacheng, Vice Minister of Justice of China, and Mr. Wang Shuangquan, Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province. At the second and third parts of the forum, government officials, prominent experts and scholars and leading figures of internet enterprises from such countries as China, Russia, US, Germany, South Korea, and Singapore expressed their opinions and exchanged views with each other on a wide range of issues around the theme of “Data Security, Protection of Personal Information, Cyberspace Governance, and Bringing Data Governance under the Rule of Law”, including international and legal regulation of personal data protection, algorithms and its legal governance in the real world, new rules on fairness and transparency for online e-commerce in platforms and search engines under the EU 2910-1150 (Platform-to-Business Regulations) and its implications, personal data protection in cyberspace in Macao, trusted data sharing and data governance, national master data, Chinese codification and the legal system of data rights in China, and data privacy issues in the era of AI.
