The Launching Ceremony of the Book “Towards the Prosperity of International Law Science” Held in Beijing

The Launching Ceremony of the book “Towards the Prosperity of International Law Science: Collected Works in Celebration of the Tenth Anniversary of the Establishment of CASS Institute of International Law” was held in Beijing on September 7, 2019.

The launching ceremony was sponsored by CASS Institute of International Law and attended by over 60 experts and scholars, including Chinese experts and scholars from the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, CASS, Social Sciences Academic Press, China Democracy and Law Press, University of International Business and Economics, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, State-level Kunming Economic and Technological Development Zone, Macao University, and Yingke Law Firm as well as foreign scholars and experts from various universities, research institutions and legal communities in Russia, Indian, Portugal, South Africa and Brasilia.

At the ceremony, presided over by Professor Mo Jihong, Director of CASS Institute of Law, Professor Lu Zhongmei, Vice Chair of the Social and Legal Affairs Commission of the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Vice Chair of China Law Society, Professor Chen Guoping, Secretary of Joint Party Committee of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, and Ms. Yang Lin, a global partner of Yingke Law Firm, each gave a speech. After the speeches, an unveiling ceremony was held to mark the official launching of the book.

The book, published by Social Sciences Academic Press, consists of six volumes: Public International Law, Private International Law, International Economic Law, International Human Rights Law, Chinese Review of International Law, and the English Language Volume. It contains carefully selected research results by scholars of the Institute, including many influential papers published in CRIL. By reviewing the journey taken by Institute since its establishment and displaying its current styles and features, it is a brief summarization of the development of the Institute, as well as a demonstration of a firm determination of the Institute to make even more splendid achievements in the future. 

After the book launching ceremony, the BRICS Forum on the International Rule of Law was held. At the forum, Chinese and foreign scholars carried out discussion and exchanged opinions on various issues relating to such topics as BRICS member states and international legal order, mechanisms for legal cooperation and enforcement of law among BRICS member states, and the environmental law, investment and taxation laws, and commercial dispute resolution mechanisms in various BRICS member states.
