The Seminar on Compilation of the Chinese Civil Code from the Perspective of Application of Law Held in Beijing

The Seminar on Compilation of the Chinese Civil Code from the Perspective of Application of Law, sponsored by the Center for Private Law Studies of CASS Law Institute, was held in Beijing on July 29, 2019. The seminar was attended by over 50 experts and scholars from various research institutions and universities throughout the country, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Beihang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, China University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Tianjin University, Shandong University, Suzhou University, Hainan University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and CASS Law Institute.

 

At the opening ceremony, presided over by Professor Xie Hongfei, a vice chairman of the Civil Law Research Committee of China Law Society, Professor Sun Xianzhong, a member of Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress, a CASS member, and a vice chairman of the Civil Law Research Committee of China Law Society, gave a lecture entitled “The Pursuit of Scientific Civil Law as a Mission of Contemporary Chinese Jurists”.

 At the seminar, which was divided into five units, the participants carried out in-depth discussions on such topics as “the overall legislative thinking of the Chinese Civil Code and legislative techniques of Book of Property Law of the Chinese Civil Code”, “norms on obligations and contract in the Book of Contract Law of the Chinese Civil Code”, “detailed norms in the Book of Contract Law and the Book of Property Law of the Chinese Civil Code”, “norms of the Book of Tort Liability of the Chinese Civil Law”, and “Book of Marriage and Family and the Book of Inheritance of the Chinese Civil Code”.
