The Interdisciplinary Seminar on the Construction of Digital China and Legislation on Digital Economy, jointly sponsored by CASS Law Institute and the Research Committee on Cyber and Information Law of China Law Society, was recently held in Beijing. At the seminar, the participants gave speeches and carried out discussions on various issues around the current situation and the future prospect of the development of digital China, the rule of law safeguard for the development of digital economy, and the construction of a scientific digital economy governance system.

They pointed out that digital economy represents the trend of development of new production force, has the effect of amplifying and multiplying economic development, and is a powerful engine for the development of the world economy. Currently, China ranks the second in the world in the scale of digital economy. The rapid development of digital economy has enabled China to take the “commanding height” in the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. China should speed up the legislation on digital economy, so as to use the rule of law method to establish a digital economy governance system adapted to its own national conditions and to create a favorable environment and provide a legal safeguard for enhancing China’s competitive advantages in the field of digital economy.
