Three Researchers of CASS Institute of International Law Attends the International Conferences on China-Africa Cooperation

 

On December 5-13, 2019, three researchers from Institute of International Law visited Africa as part of the CASS Delegation and attended the International Conference on “Africa and China: Jointly Promoting Sustainable Development”, held at the African Union headquarters in Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, and the International Conference on “China-Africa Cooperation and Joint Construction of the Belt and Road”, held in Senegal. The three researchers were Professor Mo Jihong, Director of the Institute, Professor Liao Fan, Head of the Department of Research Coordination and International Cooperation, and Dr. Sun Nanxiang, an assistant research fellow at the Department of International Economic Law.

At the international conference on “Africa and China: Jointly Promoting Sustainable Development”, Professor Mo Jihong gave a speech entitled “sustainable development and the right to ecology”.  At the International Conference on “China-Africa Cooperation and Joint Construction of the Belt and Road”, Professor Mo gave a speech entitled “legislation and reform” and presided over the second session on “policy coordination and cultural exchange”. Professor Liao Fan gave a speech entitled “Belt and Road from the perspective of the blueprint of policy communication, road interconnection, smooth trade, currency circulation, and consensus of popular support”.

During their stay in Africa, members of the delegation also visited the Oriental Industrial Part in Ethiopia, the Chinese Embassy in Senegal, the Center for Black Africa Studies and the School of Economy of the University of Dakar, and Diamniadio Industrial Park in Senegal, and attended Colloquium on “the Construction of Industrial Parks and Investment Cooperation”, organized by the Association of Chinese Enterprises in Senegal.

The visit has deepened the mutual understanding and friendship between CASS Institute of International Law and the political, academic, and business circles in Africa and is conducive to the future exchange and cooperation between China and Africa in the field of the rule of law, and as such, has been a great success.
