On October 24, 2019, a delegation of State and Law Institute of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, headed by Professor Irena Ilieva, Director of the Institute, visited CASS Law Institute and held a meeting with Professor Chen Guoping, Secretary of Joint Party Committee of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law. At the meeting, Professor Chen extended warm welcome to the Bulgarian guests and gave them an introduction to the organizational structure of CASS Law Institute, as well as the researches carried out by the institute and the role it plays in the construction of the rule of law in China. He pointed out that CASS Law Institute and the State and Law Institute of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences have similar functions and broad prospect for cooperation. Especially in the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the two institutes should strengthen their cooperation and jointly make contribution to the construction of the Belt and Road. The cooperation may take diversified forms and various exchange platforms should be fully utilized to promote the legal exchange between and the development of the rule of law in the two countries. Professor Ilieva thanked Professor Chen for the hospitality and gave him an introduction to the organizational structure, the main functions and the research emphases of the State and Law Institute of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She pointed out that her institute attaches great importance to the academic exchange with CASS and she hoped that her visit would promote the exchange and cooperation between the two institutes, especially in such fields as exchange of personnel, joint research projects and legal education. Professor Xie Zengyi, head of the Research Coordination and International Cooperation Department of CASS Law Institute also attended the meeting.
