Professor Liang Huixing Gives Lecture on Judicial Adjudication at the High-end Forum of the Higher People’s Court of Tianjin Municipality

On May 11, 2018, Professor Liang Huixing, a research fellow of CASS Law Institute and a prominent civil law scholar in China, gave a lecture on judicial adjudication at the High-end Forum of the Higher People’s Court of Tianjin Municipality. The lecture was presided over by Mr. Yin Yuanqing, a full-time member of the Adjudicative Committee of the Court and attended by over 1,800 judges in Tianjin Municipality.

In the lecture, Professor Liang analyzed from the unique perspective of a prominent civil law expert the differences between thinking of judges and that of lawyers and law professors and the active thinking and passive thinking that judges should have as the exercisers of adjudicative power.Relying on his profound knowledge of and his life-time researchon civil law, he provided systematic guidance to judges on the study and application of the provisions of current laws.

After the lecture, the judges all said that Professor Liang’s lecture helped them to master and apply the method centered on legal provisions, cultivate the habit of legal thinking, skillfully use of legal interpretation method, restructure judges’ professional basis, raise their capacity of adjudication, adapt to the new demands of the construction of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics in a new era, strictly apply the law, andadjudicate cases in a just and fair way.
