CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law Organize Activities Celebrating the Sixth National Constitutional Day

 

On December 4, 2019, the sixth National Constitutional Day in China, “the Constitution Publicity Activities: the Robot Tells Me about the Constitution”, sponsored by CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International law, and organized by China Legal Publishing House, Beijing Society of Legislation Law, the Department of the Rule of Law Strategy of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, and the Center for Rule of Law Publicity and Education and Public Law Studies of CASS Law Institute, was successfully held in Beijing.

The activities were held inside and at the front of the Octagon Coffee House (Constitutional Law Coffee House) and attended by Professor Mo Jihong, Director of CASS Institute of International Law, Professor Li Zhong, head of the Department of the Rule of Law Strategy of CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, Ms. Wu Lihua and Ms. Song Yuzhen, two deputy heads of the Department of Law Application of China Legal Publishing House, over 80 experts and scholars from CASS Law Institute and CASS Institute of International Law, Ph.D. candidates and graduate students from CASS Graduate School, as well as a large number of citizens. This year’s activities, which took “Carrying forward the Spirit of the Constitution and Promoting the Modernization of the State Governance System and Capacity” as its theme, included giving lectures on the Constitution, handing out free books and materials on the publicity of the Constitution, as well as free hot coffee to citizens, holding award-wining quiz on constitutional knowledge, and answering questions from citizens about the constitution and laws by a robot named “Xiaolu”.  

On May 4 this year, promoted by the Education Bureau and Youth Bureau of Macao Special Administrative Region, the sister unit of Beijing Constitutional Law Coffee House, the Constitutional Law Coffee House of Macao SAR, was formally established in Macao and has become an important platform of publicity of the Constitution in Macao since then.

In this year’s activities, AI technology had been introduced into field of constitutional law publicity and education, thus greatly aroused the enthusiasm of citizens for participating in and further enhanced the effect of the activities. The activities had received enthusiastic response from citizens and was widely covered by the main mass media in Beijing, including “Topics in Focus” program, Channel 12 and English Channel of the CCTV.
