Professor Liu Hainian and Professor Yang Yifan Attend the 22nd Case Law Forum of the Judicial Case Institute of the Supreme People's Court

 

The 22nd Case Law Forum of the Judicial Case Institute of the Supreme People's Court was held at the National Judge’s College in Beijing on November 1, 2019. The forum was jointly sponsored by China Society of Judicial Studies, the Case Law Research Committee of China Law Society, and the Judicial Case Institute of the Supreme People's Court and attended by experts and scholars from such research institutions, universities and judicial organs as CASS, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, the National Judge’s College, the Supreme People’s Court, China Society of Judicial Studies, the Case Law Research Committee of China Law Society, the Judicial Case Institute of the Supreme People's Court, the Chinese Court Museum, and the People’s Court Press. Among the attendants of the forum were two scholars from CASS Law Institute: Professor Liu Hainian and Professor Yang Yifan. At the forum, presided over by Mr. Hu Yunteng, a chief justice of the Supreme People’s Court, Professor Liu Hainian, Professor Yang Yifan, and Professor Zhang Jinfan analyzed a series of judicial cases and classical judicial documents in ancient China, discussed the dialectical relationship between the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics and the excellent traditional Chinese culture, the development of the rule of law in the 5,000-year history of China, and the wisdoms of ancient Chinese sages with respect to the rule of law, and reached a broad consensus with other participants of the forum on the need to further explore the essence of the traditional Chinese legal culture.
