The Seventeenth Internet and Information Law Roundtable and the Online Seminar on “Data Governance under the Situation of the COVID-19 Epidemic” Successfully Held

  

The 17th Internet and Information Law Roundtable and the Seminar on “Data Governance under the Situation of the COVID-19 Epidemic” were successfully held in the form of online video conference on April 24, 2020. The roundtable and seminar were jointly sponsored by the Internet and Information Law Department of CASS Law Institute,Internet and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society and the Editorial Board of Journal of Cyber and Information Law, and attended by experts and scholars from universities and research institutions, and Internet companies.The seminar was divided into three units. In the first unit, presided over by Professor ZhaiGuoqiang, head of the Internet and Information Law Department of CASS Law Institute,a keynote speech was given by Professor Zhou Hanhua, deputy director of CASS Law Institute, the person in charge of Internet and Information Law Research Committee of China Law Society and the Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cyber and Information Law.In the second and the third unit of seminar the participants gave presentations and carried out discussions on various issues around the following three topics: “new risks in personal information protection and data security under the new situation of epidemic”, ” “the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the legislation on Personal Information Protection Law and Data Security Law and data administration policies in China and abroad”, and “summarization of the experiences in the government-enterprise cooperation in the utilization of big data under the situation of the COVID-19 epidemic”. At the end of the seminar, Professor ZhaiGuoqiangmade some concluding remarks in which he gave a summarization of the issues discussed at the seminar.
