Expert Assessment Meeting on “the Plan for the Establishment of the Showroom of Historical Materials on Peng Zhen and the 1982 Chinese Constitution” Held in Beijing

The Expert Assessment Meeting on “the Plan for the Construction of the Showroom of Historical Materials on Peng Zhen and the 1982 Chinese Constitution”, sponsored by CASS Law Institute and jointly organized by the Constitutional and Administrative Law Department and the Innovation Project on the Administrative Law Issues in the Process of Deepening of Economic Reform and Building a Moderately Well-off Society in an All-round Way” of CASS Law Institute, was held in Beijing on December 14, 2019. The meeting was attended by over 20 experts and scholars from CASS, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the Ministry of Justice, China Law Society, the CPC Party Committee of Shaanxi Province, the Judicial Department of Shanxi Province, the Peng Zhen Memorial Hall and the Formal Site of Taiyuan Party Branch of CPC, Peking University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, and People’s Daily.

The expert assessment meeting was divided into three units. In the first unit, Mr. Zhou Tao, a member of Group on Ruling the Province by Law of Shanxi Provincial Party Committee, explained background of the establishment of the Showroom of Historical Materials on Peng Zhen and the 1982 Chinese Constitution. Professor Li Honglei, leader of the innovative project and head of Constitutional and Administrative Law Department of CASS Law Institute, gave a report on the plan for the establishment of the Showroom. In the second unit of the meeting, various experts discussed and carried out assessment of the plan and put forward suggestions for its improvement. They unanimously agreed that, against the background of advancing ruling the country by law and strengthening the implementation of the Constitution, the establishment of the showroom is of great significance to carrying forward the culture of constitution and popularizing the knowledge of the Constitution. At the third unit of the meeting, Ms. Wu Zeng, Deputy Director of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Professor Li Lin, a member of the Academic Committee of CASS, and Mr. Zhang Chunsheng, the former deputy director of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, each made a summarization of the meeting.
