The Annual Conference of the Constitutional Law Research Committee and the Legislation Law Research Committee of Beijing Law Society Held in Beijing

 

The Annual Conference of the Constitutional Law Research Committee and the Legislation Law Research Committee of Beijing Law Society was held in Beijing on December 14, 2019. The conference, which took “Magnificent 70 Years: Constitution and Capital Governance” and “Improving the Legislative Institutions and Mechanisms” as its themes, was attended by over 30 experts, scholars, doctoral candidates and graduate students from Beijing Law Society, China University of Political Science and Law, CASS Law Institute, CASS Institute of International Law, University of CASS, Renmin University of China, Party School of CPC Central Committee, University of International Relations, Minzu University of China, Beijing Normal University, the Party Committee of Beijing Municipality, the People’s Congress of Beijing Municipality, and the People’s Court of Mentougou District of Beijing Municipality.

 

At the opening ceremony, presided over by Mr. Wang Changtong, Deputy Director of the Office of Beijing Law Society, Professor Zhang Baogui, Vice Secretary of Constitutional Law Research Committee, and Professor Liu Xiaomei, Vice Secretary General of the Legislation Law Research Committee, summarized the work carried out by their respective committees in 2019 and looked into the prospect of the work of the committees in 2020. At the conference, which was divided into two units, the participants gave presentations and carried out discussions on a wide range of issues around the themes of the conference. At the closing ceremony, presided over by Professor Liu Xiaomei, Professor Mo Jihong, Chairman of the Constitutional Research Committee, and Professor Li Shuzhong, Chairman of the Legislation Law Committee, each gave a concluding speech, in which they pointed out that the two research committees would continue to strengthen their cooperation with each other and jointly promote the research on constitutional interpretation and provide more profound theoretical support to the legislation in the Capital Region.
